Karen Potter is a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents (FNAEA), recently marking her 35th anniversary of when she first started in the Industry. Karen grew up in Southport and after leaving school, went to College, then in 1982 to become Office Junior in the historical and highly respected Estate Agent, Hatch & Fielding. Following promotion, Karen subsequently went to work for the prestigious Firm of H. H. & J. Robinson in Waterloo, Liverpool; finally moving to yet another long-established Southport Firm in 1987. The vast experience she gained from working, for what was very much; “Old School” standards of Chartered Surveyors provided her with valuable foundation upon which she has now been able to build an enviable reputation. It is worth mentioning that Karen broke new ground at the early age of 21, when she became the first female Property Valuer in Southport. She worked tirelessly, eventually becoming the first and sole female Partner in what was then one of the largest and most successful groups in the North West. Karen was at the forefront of winning a highly coveted Chamber of Commerce Award for her work in “Business In The Community”; has organised successful Charity Events and was the first Lady Chairman, then re-elected, of the Southport and District Surveyors and Estate Agents Association from 1995. She is also Spokesperson for the North West, providing information on property in the region to the Bank of England’s Agency, and has done since 2002. Karen brings an unparalleled breadth of experience to her work, which partly explains the growth and consistent success of her business in such a highly competitive market. Her drive, energy and vision have created a superb "quality of service" for each and every client. From a fledgling Agency, under Karen's guidance, the business has steadily expanded year on year and is duly recognised as one of the best in Southport.

Matthew joined us in 2016 bringing with him extensive knowledge gained from 10 years experience valuing property in and around Southport. His reassuringly friendly and highly approachable manner, together with extensive knowledge of property values and market trends has already proved to be a considerable asset. A Graduate, Matthew brings a confident approach to the complexities of buying and selling property and is able to offer all our clients the best advice, at just the right time. Efficient and effective in his work, he is a safe pair of hands now looking forward with optimism to meeting new clients, customers and the sustained growth and continued success of Karen Potter The Estate Agent. Outside of work, Matthew’s passion for buildings is put to the Lego test by his young son, whilst his young daughter ensures he relives his childhood via Roald Dahl books. A distinctly average golfer and dedicated Everton fan with a liking for spicy food, Matthew enjoys being part of this strong, positive team and part of a forward-thinking Company that shares his professional work ethics. He also enjoys the endless cups of Office Tea on offer.
Caroline joined us in 2015 following a career spanning over 30 years in Customer Service. Although new to Estate Agency, Caroline brought with her a wealth of relevant professional experience and is delighted her ambition of working in Estate Agency is now reality. Caroline loves being part of the strong, positive team at Karen Potter, particularly as her experience grows from sharing knowledge and expertise in meeting the many challenges of buying and selling property. Her trademark is a bright, happy smile with a methodical approach to her work and an attention to detail; understanding that buying a home often needs careful consideration. She enjoys helping our buyers find their dream home, especially when handing the keys over on ‘Completion’ day. Caroline and her family live in Southport and are currently planning renovations to their home. Whilst they’re looking forward to the end result, they aren’t looking forward to the upheaval and mess; it will be a relief to come into a nice clean office instead!
Sam joined us following a career in administration and retail, where organisational skills and customer service are paramount. She’s delighted to now be part of the Karen Potter Team and apply both of these skills to her role with a healthy and lively sense of humour! She says the best part of her job is the fact that every day is varied, rewarding and interesting together with the wide range of clients that she meets selling and buying through Karen Potter; she loves to match these buyers to properties, all with a big friendly and reassuring smile! Sam sets her personal (and passionate) expectations of customer service very high, insisting “there’s no excuse for anything other than great service”; this is clearly evident in her work. Her ideal home would be a large Victorian house that had all its original features, a huge garden and lots of potential to improve, preferably, she says, with Daniel Craig as a sitting tenant! When she’s not working, Sam loves to spend time with her family (and the cutest Chihuahua), regularly getting up at 5am to take her daughters (future record-breaking British Olympic Champions) to their swimming lessons.

Amanda has more than 20 years experience in working in Retail and HR administration. Having lived in 15 houses to date, the most memorable for her was a home in the Isle of Man which had a wonderful outlook, a lake with swans and ducks and beautiful scenery. Thank goodness we also have a fabulous sea-front lake in Southport, complete with the same feathered wildlife to keep Amanda at home! With so many moves Amanda appreciates how important it is to find your perfect place. She recognises that buying a home is one of the biggest events in our lives and enjoys being involved, even in a small way, in the process for both vendors and purchasers. A particular delight for her has been the opportunity to plan for and refurbish her new home. Likes - the red brick houses which are a feature in Southport, especially the detached double fronted ones. Dislikes - spiders, even the teeny weenie "money ones". Amanda is a genuine arachnophobe! ......(and a genuinely lovely person)
Eric was one of our first clients and he was so nice to deal with we asked him to come and work for us! He is our longest serving member of staff and gives us the benefit of his dedication, experience, hard work and passion for the Industry. He had previously worked in the Print Industry for over 30 years and dealt with people from all walks of life. After racing motorcycles at all major circuits as a “lad” and driving everything from a Bubble Car to a 16-wheeler truck (including the open-top Rolls Royce built for Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly’s’ wedding). Pet hates? Cold weather. Likes? Warm weather. Most scary situation to date? Entering a house that was meant to be unoccupied and finding an elderly relative in a very deep, quiet sleep on a chair. To put it subtly, Eric was concerned for the owners’ err, health! Thankfully the family saw the funny side when all turned out to be well. According to Eric he genuinely loves his job because he never knows from day to day what it will bring. Variety is the spice of life. Eric maintains an unflappable approach throughout - no matter how tough it gets!
Jim is a newcomer to the Business of Estate Agency but already considers it to be a second career. Having been a Special School Head teacher for the past 25 years he appreciates the importance of working with a mutually supportive team and was delighted to find this readily available at Karen Potter The Estate Agents. Indeed, that support was immediately evident in the careful, thorough and patient training provided for the position of "Accompanied Viewer". Prior to working for Karen Potter, Jim had "seen the other side of the coin" and was delighted to achieve the sale of his luxury Apartment, through KP The Estate Agent, in less than 24 hours from first advert! As a satisfied customer he knows that you can't get better than that! Interested in all aspects of "property" the real bonus for him is the opportunity to meet so many new people in such a variety of settings. Jim's street geography has improved to the extent that he could now give a "Southport Cabbie" a run for his money. A couple of years ago, late one evening whilst Jim was putting his keys away after a busy day, Karen introduced her then 14 year old daughter, Paige, to him. Afterwards, Karen asked Paige if she remembered Jim because some time earlier, Jim had been an Assessor at her school. Slow realisation hit Paige's face and she instantly responded with "Yes I remember him - he was lovely and so nice!” You can't ask for more than that. .......After eating school dinners for more than 40 years Jim has developed a passionate regard - for custard - and all those traditional "comfort" puddings.
